‘Re:’ by yoskay yamamoto
an immersive solo exhibition & hawaiʻi debut
This new body of work marks Yoskay’s first solo exhibition in the State of Hawai’i. This collection focuses on an intentional and sustainable approach to creating art by repurposing discarded items and recycling old materials. Along with new drawings and paintings, the exhibition will highlight Yoskay’s latest large-scale installation, “We Cry Together,” made up of over 100 paper mache sculptures. It is an homage and his love letter to Hilo town.
“From my first visit in 2016, the experiences of Temple Children residencies and the interactions with the Hilo community have been meaningful chapters in my creative journey. This exhibition feels like a full-circle moment, and I could not be happier to share my art in a place that's dear to me.” - Yoskay
